What causes the awakening of the spirit of God in us? First, we have to recognize that our creator is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. Not only that, He loves us with a constant, relentless love even if you don’t realize it! Do you know why you don’t realize it? Because you compare it to your love experiences.
As an omniscient creator, he knows you from before you were knitted in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139: 13, 14, 16). He has loved and loves you ever since. He knows you, he’s been waiting for you. Waiting for you to find him and open your heart. Even being a God who knows everything, who is present in the universe, in the natural and spiritual realm, there by your side, He’s also a gentleman. The awakening of the spirit of God in you will not manifest until you give him permission because He respects your free will. In Revelation 3:20, Jesus speaking, “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will share a meal together as friends.” Of course, in this process we begin to be purified and set apart from evil, in order to know Him better. (We must want to be forgiven, forgive and bless others). The desire to know our heavenly Father who loves us deeply, who wishes to bless us and pour out his favor is one of the actions that begins the awakening of the spirit of God in us.
Worship also attracts the attention of God, for it is an offering of pleasing aroma. Look at what Exodus 23:25 says, “Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you”, in Ephesians 5: 2 “and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God”, in John 4:24 “God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” and in Psalms 71:23 “My lips will shout with joy when I sing praise to you, I whom you have delivered.”
Another action that melts God’s heart is obedience. Obey the voice, call and anointing of God in your life. 1 Peter 1:14 says, “As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.”
But how can I feel the awakening of the spirit of God in me? I think reading devotionals like this is good, but reading the Bible for a few minutes is better. Listening to Christian music is good, but worshiping and singing in your intimate time for a few minutes is better. Praying is good, but taking a minute to hear your voice is better. As you allow and obey His direction, you’ll begin to notice revelation to your questions as you read. You’ll begin to realize God’s hand blessing your house, your work, your relationships. You’ll begin to ask him about every important decision in your life, waiting for His answer and trusting. Your spirit will awaken as you listen to Him and you will feel a development in yourself of: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control.
Why? Because He is a Good Father.
