Lonely woman watching sunset alone in winter

12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:12

Many times when we are waiting on the promises of GOD we are not willing to do what it takes to obtain it.

His word challenges not to become lazy because it’s easy to give up and become discouraged and quit. For GOD’s children quitting is not an option. HE expects from us two things, faith in action and patience in order to reap HIS reward.

14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? (James 2:14)

You can’t just say “I believe”, you have to put action in your belief. What are things that you are doing today that show GOD you have faith in HIM?

  • First, GOD requires you to look at HIM and not at your circumstances. It’s easy to be “a matter of fact people” that draw logical conclusions from the circumstances. Are you declaring his promises or are you just accepting your situation as status quo?
  • Second, HE requires you to walk by faith. What does that mean? To some it may mean to change the negative words that come out of your mouth. To others it can mean to change your job, start a class, end a relationship. I don’t know what it may be, but you do.

Now let’s talk about patience. Patience is a fruit of the SPIRIT. A fruit that I must say is one of the most challenging fruits to have now a days.

We find ourselves in an instantaneous driven culture that wants  food, coffee, systems to lose weight, money and success now. You can even start and end a relationship with a swipe. Technology today creates in us individuals that want satisfaction now.

With this type of mentality, wanting things in our own time table,  we can’t demonstrate to GOD we have faith.  Remember without faith its impossible to please HIM.

It took time for people in the Bible such as Abraham, Sarah, David and Joseph to get promoted… but their reward was more than they ever dreamed of or imagined. GOD’s time is not our time.

He knows the right time needed to develop the character that will succeed!

Look at Romans 5:4-6   And patience produces character, and character produces hope. And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us.   When we were unable to help ourselves, at the right time, Christ died for us, although we were living against God. (Romans 5:4-6)

I want to challenge you to have action driven faith and wait to be promoted in GOD’s perfect time.
